Ion Watches for Improved Health

by Marilyn S. Preston

Many people have become aware of the potential side effects of mainstream health products. Although many advances are being made in the field of health care, these technological breakthroughs often come at a price. Some drugs have side effects that might even preclude the patient from taking them at all, and most drugs have at least seemingly benign side effects. Because of this, many people have seen the value in looking into alternative medicine and health strategies.

For example ionized bracelets and watches are becoming increasingly popular for improving mood, health, balance and general well-being. Made of simple silicone, these healthy fashion accessories are infused with negative ions. The theory is that negative ions naturally attract positive ions, much like the negative pole of a magnet attracts the positive poles of other magnets.

A device that exposes the user to negative ions will naturally pull the positive ions out of that person. Positive ions are associated with a poor mood and poor health. There are several ways to introduce negative ions into the air.

One is with an ionizer, a device that electrically charges the air. Smoke detectors work on a principle similar to this. Ionizers are commonly used to remove dust from air. The air is charged, giving the dust particles a negative charge. If excessive smoke is present, the detector will notice, since the particles are electrically charged.

An ionizing purifier works by magnetically attracting the negatively charged particles with a positively charged plate. Obviously this technology is too bulky to carry around in one's day to day life, so wearable technology is the answer.

Ion bracelets and watches are silicone bands infused with negative ions that escape and permeate the skin of the wearer, and the air around them. While not as powerful as an electrical air ionizer, ion watches and bracelets transmit negative ions to the wearer, increasing balance, mood and general health.
